Supanovaaaa 09

Burn!
Supanova is done! Sales were okay... not as great as I expected, but I think I've been getting spoiled by zine fairs. XD;

As usual, I caught up with lots of people and picked up some sweet sweet comics and art... for some reason I also picked up a gigantic bruise on my upper left arm. Not sure what happened there.

What I was totally not expecting to see there was The King of Fighters XII, playable on 360 and PS3. IT'S KOF TWELVE GUYS, KOF TWELVE. The changes are so weird (whatttt is Kensou's outfitttt?????), but it's soooo pretty. The release date for Australia (360/PS3) is the 28th of August, eeee I can't wait!!

The guy on the right in the above pics was an interminable tool who played Joe, Joe and Joe with little regard for fun or variety. I bet he plays Ken all the time in SFIV, too. >:( Thankfully every match on Sunday was a lot more fun to play.

The KoF distributor had Battle Fantasia too, but I already gave up on that coming out after Red Ant tanked and asked [info]mirness to bring me a copy from the UK a few months back. I watched a bit of Tekken 6 being played at the Atari booth (they distribute Namco games here) and that was pretty interesting.

Here's a link to my flickr set that lets you view the friends-only pics - I wanted to hide the shots of my table from a certain social network lolol. Most of the public pics are under the cut if you are too lazy to leave my journal!

Various fun pics, mostly cosplay )

I drew an amazing lot too. Rock Howard is suddenly in all of my pics again, surprise surprise. I'll have to scan them in during the week!

Now that that's over... I have more time to play Garou and The Sims 3 ahahaha :DDD;

TAAAALES

Angels!
Oho, the Japanese Xbox Marketplace had the Tales of Vesperia demo in English and it didn't require a gold account. :D Giving it a spin now! [info]iodinesoup, you are safe after all.

Dropped by Supanova briefly yesterday, bought a few things and talked to a few people. I grabbed Red-J's Gemini #1 and #2, J. Marc Schmidt's Egg Story and Eating Steve, Marcelo Baez's Diabla #3, RAE's Cabin Boys #2 and the Eegra "pormoshonal zeen".

I also caved in and bought MW, Walkin' Butterfly and Yakuza In Love #2 from the Kings booth. Hot damn, MW is good. It's one of those books that is going to get borrowed by a lot of people.

[info]amei it was great to catch up with you one last time! You must come baaaaack~

Hoho day off tomorrow! I'm going to be working on the zine - you've only got a day or two left to send me thingssss! Even if it's just an excerpt of your existing work, it's all good.

Wander has started his first moult and is an incredibly angry young bird right now. He's dumping feathers everywhere, preening like mad and getting all annoyed about his newfound head-feather-spikiness.

Shoutouts a mile long

MySim + me

Oh my, I haven't written a decent blog entry in forever. Let's play catchup!

Supanova! )

iTunes Plusss! )

ILU CAPCOM and a drawing for once! )
Heloy!
Yargh, it took me three nights to finish Case 2. No danger of me finishing it in a week like I did the first game! x_x And I figure I will either limit the reaction posts to my JournalFen or wait until everyone else is playing it... probably the former. Or should I just let it all out here? So far [info]jokersama is the only one who's heard my fangirling, really!

Re: Supanova: I'm avoiding writing a con report again, aren't I...? Basically I talked to a ton of people, sold some stuff, played some Guitar Hero 2, bought too much stuff and got annoyed that Crispin Freeman isn't allowed to sign Atlus games. But overall it rocked, mostly for the talking to people aspect.

For my fellow desk-monkeys: The Art of Efficiency - 10 Ways to Organise Your Life

Personally I have 1 to 6 covered (though my "hipster PDA" is more like a "hipster laptop") and am looking at 7, but I don't think I can fit a fembot in my work area comfortably :( My workmates are highly amused that I'm so techy and still insist on writing on paper so often, but there's something different about scribbling on paper. I've tried using Painter and Word:mac's Notepad function, but they just aren't the same!

Supanova tomorrow! And I have no idea what to do with [info]arabel's con badge.

Edit: yay, Cookbook came third in the My Dream App competition! I've seen some of the commenters and judges go "wtf, recipe apps are so useless" but of course you'd say that if you never cook. I've tried a few recipe/shopping list/meal plan apps (using Measuring Cup for now) but Cookbook looks like it takes the best ideas from all of them. Can't wait for it to be released! :D

Supanova and associated procrastination

Fire!
Well, Hayase! seems to have gotten me into the mood for convention things, and goodness, Moshi Moshi 12 appears to be materialising (for real). Got anything for me, [info]arabel? Or should I use what you did before (god knows where I've put it)? And [info]douglasbot, I was rooting around for master pages and things tonight and found a dozen or so copies of Tales From Under Your Bed. Damn things be haunting me. I'm giving them back to you whether you like it or not!

Apart from that I'm doing the last evar reprints of All Draw Same and Mourning Tea and some postcard prints for Puppy Love (the Phoenix Wright doujinshi), plus I still have prints and bookmarks left over from last year. I'm far more prepared for Supanova than I thought I'd be. :D;

Anyhoo, it's games season again!! Right now I'm juggling Harvest Moon DS, Tales of the Abyss and Devil Summoner because I like them all too much to be playing them one at a time. The good thing is that that one has random encounters, one has avoidable encounters and one has almost nonexistent encounters, so I can choose a game depending on how much of a fightin' mood I'm in.

I'm sure things will change in ToA's favour once Luke cops the boot to the head he's so obviously cruising for, buuut... Devil Summoner is winning so far because it just appeals to me on so many fronts. Nothing makes me happy like a good mystery and being involved in the detective work will make me playplayplay for the satisfaction of seeing the story unfold. It doesn't help that the game is set in period Japan, that I have a classy talking cat for a companion, or that I've been involved in a bathhouse punch-up with two yakuza thugs wearing nothing but my hat. I know some people hate the battle system, but I don't really mind it - for one thing, I've only died once in seven hours of gameplay (at one point in DDS2 I died six times in an hour), and I love that I can avoid a fair amount of status changes just by guarding.

And Narumi is a damn fine set of polygons. I could look at his adorable expressions all day. ♥

Oh what the hey

Chewing!
COMPLAIN HARDER, FOOLS!!!

I'm more amused than anything else... actually, moving the con closer and to a place with pretty good parking has probably convinced me to go. People honestly need to know that there are reasons why not everyone lives near the Sydney CBD (heck, we can't even afford to buy a place in Homebush, the new development they're building has a price range of $390,000 to $3.5mil).

Hayase! people - we could catch the ferry to Supanova! *_*; Or, failing that, carpool. Or catch the train. Or the bus. You get the picture.

Okay, this was a totally kneejerk post, but I'll post something of substance. Eventually. But HAPPY BIRTHDAY PATRICK!!!!

Supanova tidbits

Gasp-P!
Supanova ROCKED. I'm still pretty tired and will write a much longer entry later this week (with photos!) but for now you just get some of the good ol' point form.
  • I wouldn't recommend it for every year and we'll probably have to rethink our strategy if it ever happens again, but having a booth was pretty awesome. I managed to go on extremely long walks, as did everyone else, and we were always covered for.
  • Unfortunately the booth made us look like we had all this money to burn, and [info]stikmancomics and I have this nagging feeling that a volunteer lifted a few books from us on Friday night. We're really hoping it isn't true.
  • PictoChatted and played Nintendogs a fair bit, including the seven-way PictoChat stacks-on during Saturday. Now I can buy a cav! >3
  • A friend of a friend of a friend (Rae) also likes doing manlove comics with plot! She's semi-talked me into doing another shounen ai compilation, or at least a collab. Having read the three volumes of her comic, I'm going to have to gush a lot more about her later.
  • I met sooo many people that I previously only knew in print or online, alongside a bunch of people who I only seem to see once a year or a tiny bit more.
  • Someone brought the Double The Fist team, including Panda! Panda entered the cosplay comp on Sunday and danced for all. Needless to say, it was the fucking win. The guys were incredibly nice too, and I'm not just saying that because I got a free season 2 DVD.
  • I messed up my shopping priorities and missed out on the... figurine I wanted. Merchandise on Friday/Saturday, idiot. Australian comics on Sunday.
  • Jozef Szekeres drew me pr0n and said I was his favourite artist, which I have a hard time believing, but that's just not the kind of compliment you throw away.
  • [info]natesoehardi and [info]stikmancomics just didn't seem to be into it. They can tell me if I was wrong, though. Maybe I'm destined to have the all-girl tables every year? ;P
  • We finished off the weekend at Lowenbrau and HEE HEE [info]soliloquoy totally bought [info]slykura a beer and we convinced him to YODEL. Okay, there are lots of drinking stories. I'll definitely save those for later.

And now I'm overloaded at work. Party never stops! This week I also promise to post some photos of tonight's lunar eclipse. PROMISE!
